Neil Rerup

Neil has been in the IT industry since 1988 and a Security Architect since 2000. He has over 18 years experience with an expert background of working with large organizations both Global, North American, and Western Canada based. He has expert knowledge of Security procedures and techniques, Application development, Networking protocols and Systems Engineering. He has close to 19 years of Identity Management experience and extensive Application Security expertise. He also has over 8 years working with Utilities and other critical infrastructure organizations.


Neil has extensive Utility and Critical Infrastructure experience in the following ways: Enterprise Architecture experience with BCHydro, SaskPower, Hydro One, Avista, NIST (amongst others). Experience with Smart Meter design. Experience with Power Systems design. Experience with Business Architecture. He was the Enterprise Security Architect responsible for BC Hydro’s Smart Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Security, Vancouver Olympics, SaskPower Security Projects, Avista PKI, and Payment Canada’s Reference Security Architecture.

Some of the technology experience Neil has is in: Identity & Access Management (Web SSO, ESSO, Federation, Access Management, Provisioning, etc.), Cloud Security, PKI, SIEM (ArcSight, LogRythm, Splunk, Industrial Defender). Experience with both Corporate and Power System design and implementation. Extensive Enterprise Architecture experience including Vendor Selection, Cloud Architecture Strategies and NERC compliance. Created a Utilities working group for >30 Utilities and >95 Utilities Architects.

His major assets (both technical and managerial) include developing Strategies, Architectures (TOGAF, Zachmann, ECSA), enhancing security / architecture through the use of new products, cost justifications based on strategic planning, oversight for project implementation, creation of leading edge technology and business strategies, and the development and enhancement of Corporate Policies and Procedures. Provide standardized templates and artifacts in work done for clients. Creation of Reference Enterprise Architectures for Utilities (available upon demand).
